Comparing Fractions Worksheets

Pictures first, symbols second. Each sheet mixes same bottoms, same tops and unlike pairs.

Compare with cakes

Compare two bar models and write >, < or =.

Compare the fractions

Write >, < or = between pairs like 3/8 and 3/5.

Then let them play

Stuck on which method to use? The comparing lesson has a quick chart. Bigger Slice in the comparing fractions game practices it against the bakery cat.

Questions

Why do some problems have the answer =?

On purpose. Kids who assume two different-looking fractions can't be equal get caught by pairs like 2/4 and 3/6.

What grade is this for?

Same-top and same-bottom pairs suit 3rd grade (3.NF.A.3.d). Unlike pairs suit 4th grade (4.NF.A.2).

Is the fraction game really free?

Yes. The whole game plays free in your browser, with no signup, no ads and no time limit. A Fraction Bakery app for iPhone is coming later, but the web game stays free.

Take the bakery with you, soon

A Fraction Bakery app for iPhone is on the way. The plan: offline play for the car, a parent report of which fractions have stuck, and the full bakery shelf of prizes. Until then, the whole game is free right here.
